Among the 55 security risks spotted, four are “critical”, according reports by Google and Samsung.

One cyber gap meant hackers could get authorisation to security settings, without permission.

“User interaction is not needed for exploitation [of these cyber flaws],” Android wrote in an update on its website.

“The severity assessment is based on the effect that exploiting the vulnerability would possibly have on an affected device.”

Most of these flaws were found in Galaxy devices running Android 11, Android 12, and Android 13.

Android owners should keep their eyes peels for the security patch labelled 2023-04-01 for phones running Android 10 and above.

“Exploitation for many issues on Android is made more difficult by enhancements in newer versions of the Android platform,” said Android.

“We encourage all users to update to the latest version of Android where possible.”

Samsung began rolling out the latest Android security update last week.

European and South Korean owners of Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23 Ultra smartphones were the first Samsung customers to receive it.

If you’ve got one of these devices, you can update to the newest security software in your Settings.

If you have an older Samsung phone, don’t panic. The update should be with you shortly.

However, Android has stopped bringing out security updates for phones operating on Android 9 or earlier.
