GAMING fans have been left fuming after Currys PCWorld’s website went down as they tried to buy the Xbox Series X.
The shop restocked the games console after it sold out worldwide, but shoppers struggled to get hold of one as the site buckled under the demand.
Some users were unable to get on the website at all and were met with a notice saying the site was down for maintenance.
Others were put in a digital queue to get through to the websites homepage, with hundreds waiting at one point.
Some users also found they were unable to add the item to their basket.
The website is now up and running again and the Xbox Series X now says it’s sold out.
One buyer said on Twitter: “I’m so annoyed!!! I’ve been on the curry’s website for an hour waiting for the restock of the Xbox series X and there’s nothing there! WTF what’s going on????!!!”
Another said: “Seriously bad with Xbox Series X Currys, I got through, directed me to paypal paid for (even got email saying paid from Paypal with transaction number) now someone from your team said order didn’t go through!”
Another shopper said that payment their payment using gift vouchers had been taken but the order couldn’t be processed.
Currys PCWorld has been approached for comment.
Sales of the console, which sold out in minutes when it launched earlier this month, went live at 1pm UK time.
Currys emailed shoppers saying both the £449 Xbox Series X and £249 Xbox Series S would be available for purchase.
Sales of the PS5 console last week sent the Currys website crashing too, along with other major retailers.
