PUB group Wetherspoon has pulled tomatoes from its popular fry-ups.

The 900-strong budget chain says it has culled the full English breakfast staple from its menu owing to supply issues.

The tomato shortage, which is being blamed on bad weather in Spain and Morocco, is likely to continue until early May.

Cucumbers are also in short supply.

But bemused customer Anthony Garnett said: “I have plenty of tomatoes in my fridge.

“Why can’t Wetherspoons source any?

The chain has now put up posters explaining the menu changes.

They read: “There is a national supply issue affecting tomato and cucumber.

“This means some menu dishes, such as breakfasts, burgers and steaks, will be served without tomato.

“Salads will now be made with mixed leaves, red onion and dressing.
