REVIEWS for the upcoming remake of Resident Evil 4 are in, and gamers are getting very excited about the scores it’s getting.

Resident Evil 4 was originally released on the Nintendo GameCube in 2004, before being ported to PlayStation 2, Windows PCs, and a number of other platforms in the years since.

It quickly became one of the most popular games in the long-running franchise, being praised at the time for its reinvention of traditional horror gameplay.

In recent years, however, the game has fallen by the wayside a little bit, with newer releases in the series capturing the attention of longtime fans.

While it retained a dedicated community of fans, some gamers thought that the game was starting to become dated, particularly compared to later releases.

Developer Capcom has been remaking older games in the series over the last decade, however, and Resident Evil 4 is the latest to get an overhaul.

The remake brings with it a host of changes and quality of life additions, such as an option to parry in combat encounters to make survivability when you’re out of ammo more likely.

It was also rebuilt from the ground up in the same game engine used for the most recent game in the series, Resident Evil Village, meaning it looks and performs amazingly on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series too.

Resident Evil 4 reviews have been absolutely glowing, with perfect 10/10 scores being awarded across the board.

It currently stands as one of the highest reviewed games of the year with a Metacritic score of 93/100, in-line with another GameCube classic, Metroid Prime from Nintendo.

Fans of the series are excited by the review scores too, flocking to social media and games forums to share their glee for the high scores.

One forum commenter said: “Loving these scores. It’s going to be a long week fellas.”

Another joked: “I’m in a wedding party during the same week that this game is out, I can’t forgive my friends for scheduling their wedding on RE4 launch week.”

Many even said that the excitement for the release caused them to revisit the original game after initially disliking it, now saying that it’s one of their favourite games.

Resident Evil 4’s remake is scheduled to launch next week, on March 24, 2023.
