IF you’re thinking about using Sky’s latest TV service you might want to be aware of one simple mistake that could cost you.

The broadcasting firm launched a brand new Sky Stream device last year, so you can plug in a tiny box that uses wi-fi for your TV viewing instead of a satellite-based box.

Originally, the little puck was yours to keep.

But a change to the terms and conditions was spotted by the Cordbusters website.

The Sky Stream box is now only offered as a rental – meaning it no longer belongs to you.

And you’ll have to give it back if you decide to end your subscription.

So anyone who has recently signed up to Sky Stream might want to check their paperwork.

And people thinking of joining should be well aware.

Households that started using Sky Stream before February 23 are unaffected.

If you fail to return the device once you’ve left, you’ll be hit with a fee – though it’s not clear how much.

Sky’s own website now says: “Any Sky Stream pucks bought after 23 February 2023 are loaned to you.

“So, these will need to be returned to us to avoid any non-return charges.

“We’ll let you know what needs to be returned when you get in touch.”

Loaning kit is pretty standard these days – Sky Q boxes have had the same conditions for years.

So if you joined Sky Stream recently and think you might cancel sometime in the future, don’t lose the puck or think of selling it on.
