The price of a Greggs sausage roll currently sits at £1.20 for most areas around the UK.

This is a 5p increase from costing £1.15 in October last year.

This was the third time the price of sausage rolls and their vegan counterparts was raised in 2022, which began setting customers back from £1 to £1.05 last January.

The price then rose to £1.10 in May, £1.15 in October then finally to £1.20 in January this year.

This means that the price of a sausage roll has risen by 15p since the beginning of last year.

The chain confirmed the price rises were linked to inflation.

But how much you’re charged can still depend on where you live – for example, a sausage roll can cost as much as £1.95 in central London.

However, Greggs has confirmed there are “no plans” to hike the price of its much-loved pastry just now.

Roisin Currie, Greggs chief executive said: “The sausage roll is currently £1.20 and as we sit here right now we have no plans for future price rises.

“But with the caveat of the uncertainty and complexity of the market – we have to continue to constantly have that in our sights.

“We are very focused on price and value so we think very carefully before we pass on prices to customers.”

The news follows increased sales in 2022 despite the price hikes, where figures went up by nearly a quarter as consumers opted for low-cost meals due to a higher cost of living.

There are currently 2,328 Greggs stores open around the UK and you can find your nearest one using the store locator tool on its website.

It was also announced that Greggs would be opening 150 new branches this year after opening a record 186 in 2022.

It aims to have over 3,000 stores open across the UK.

And the pastry giant will also relocate 40 shops to new, larger sites and trial a 24-hour drive thru service.

The move follows lengthier opening hours in 2022 for around 500 shops to 8pm or beyond.

It has encouraged customers to head to Greggs for an evening meal like low-cost pizzas and chicken goujons.

However, in other news, Greggs has confirmed it has axed hot cross buns from its menus before Easter, much to the disappointment of many.

But don’t feel too heavy-hearted – a spokesperson has said other Easter favourites would be landing in stores in the coming weeks.
