FIZZY drink fans are only just realising there’s an “obvious” detail on Lilt giving a major hint about its future.

Coca-Cola, which makes the totally tropical tasting beverage, shocked shoppers this week when it announced the brand will be scrapped.

The same drink will be named Fanta Pineapple and Grapefruit instead – with no difference to the flavour.

The new name and packaging will be rolling out to stores from this week onwards and the classic Lilt logo will disappear for good.

But sharp-eyed shoppers have spotted something on Lilt cans and bottles that now appears to be a dead giveaway that it was for the chop.

Commenting on the change on social media, one Lilt fan said: “I’ve been buying Lilt every week and I would say for the last 2-3 years the bottle has a made by Fanta logo on it. So it’s not surprising.”

Another said: “It was obvious this change was coming Lilt has had Fanta presents Lilt on the bottles for about a year now.”

Many people may have missed the detail on Lilt cans and bottles.

Take a closer look and beneath the Lilt logo just to the right you’ll see “By Fanta” and the Fanta logo.

The design itself also looks more like the Fanta branding, but still says the Lilt name.

It’s slightly different to the classic green Lilt pineapple design familiar to many over the years.

On the new packaging for Fanta Pineapple and Grapefruit, the Lilt name is replaced with Fanta.

But shoppers will spot that there’s still a nod to the iconic drink – it now says “Lilt new look” further down.

Fanta Pineapple and Grapefruit will start rolling out to shops this week.

You’ll still likely see the Lilt name on shelves for a while longer though as the last remaining stocks are sold.

The iconic drink has been axed after 50 years.

According to The Grocer, which first reported the change, Coca Cola said that keen Lilt fans may have spotted the gradual transition “as the drink has made its way into the Fanta family over the past few months, with changes to its packaging and logo”.
