IF you’ve noticed problems with your TV it might be because of some basic mistakes.

Things like where you place your smart TV and what’s near it can all have a serious impact on your connection to Netflix and other streaming services that use Wi-Fi.

So what can you do to improve it?

Here are five things to change.

Your router is too far away

The further your router is, the further the Wi-Fi signal has to travel.

If you’re having issues, try moving yours closer to the TV.

But…

Make sure it’s not too close

You can also have connection problems if the router is too close.

Sony recommends that you keep your TV at least one meter apart.

Device overload

If you have loads of devices like iPhones or iPads connected to your Wi-Fi all at once, this can suck things up.

This is particularly the case if you’re downloading a large file, like a video game.

Consider pausing it while you’re watching TV.

You’re using a cable to connect at the same time

If you have a cable connecting your TV to your router (known as a LAN ethernet cable) as well as using Wi-Fi, this can cause a clash.

Remove the ethernet cable.

Or, remove Wi-Fi connectivity from your TV’s settings – a cable is more reliable.

Either way, it’s one or the other, not both.

Other electricals

If your TV is near other electricals these can emit electromagnetic interference.

This can include microwaves, cordless phones, wireless toys and even garage door openers.

So think about what you have near your TV.
