APPLE has gifted screen addicted iPhone users a feature that can help slash the time spent on TikTok and Facebook.

It’s not just social media, however. This feature can be used on any app.

Apple’s Screen Time feature not only lets iPhone users track how long they’re spending on each app.

But it also allows users to set app usage limits.

These app limits will essentially ‘soft lock’ users out of the app when you’ve run out the timer.

It gives users an opportunity to escape a dreaded ‘doom scroll’ – when users get stuck scrolling through social media.

To set it up, open Settings > Screen Time > App Limits > Add Limit.

The feature also allows for customisation on the days the ‘soft lock’ will be enabled.

It means tech savvy users can set the time limits up to just be in action on weekdays, to allow for more downtime on the weekends.

But remember, it’s referred to as a ‘soft lock’ for a reason.

When the time limit runs out, the iPhone will alert users.

And it will also give users the all-too-tempting option to hit the ‘Ignore Limit’ option.

Tapping this will then give screen addicted users the option of ‘One More Minute’, ‘Remind Me in 15 Minutes’, or ‘Ignore Limit For Today’.

The feature doesn’t act as a hard-and-fast ‘lock out’ method.

But instead relies on gentle coaxing and making users confront just how long they have spent on an app – be it 20 minutes or 2 hours.
