A TESCO shopper has “cleared the shelf” after finding bags of sugar for just a penny.
The happy shopper posted his find in Facebook’s Extreme Couponing & Bargains group.

After doing his shop at Tesco, he wrote: “I get a few bargains over my time but I think todays one is the best.
“2kg of vending sugar (bit like caster sugar) 1p a bag. Yep 1p.
“There wasn’t a price on it so I asked the lady at the till she scanned it and said “ well erm …… it’s a penny “ I said ok thanks – went back and cleared the shelf…
“Only had six bags there but I won’t have to buy sugar for me again this year.
“Happy days,” he added.
We’ve asked Tesco if this was a glitch and will update the piece once we know more.
Legally, retailers don’t have to honour price glitches online if it’s a “genuine mistake”.
Instead, they can cancel the order and refund the money, usually within seven days.

It’s always worth checking your receipt to see if goods have come up cheaper – or even dearer – than expected.
Some stores sometimes sell items for cheaper than what they’ve been labelled at when you take them to the till.
However, for this lucky find some comments on the post implied that the product being out on the shop floor was a mistake.
One said: “It for the stores bakery and its not for sale.”
Another wrote: “I reckon someone accidentally put it on the shop floor and by default it comes up as a penny.”
While another said: “That is suppose to go in the Costa vending machines or the coffee machines in the colleague room.
“It’s not suppose to be on the shop floor – lucky find.”
Last year, Morrisons was selling huge packs of eggs on the shop floor.
Morrisons told The Sun at the time that the eggs are usually prepared for its salad bar, but sometimes it offers them to customers directly.
The news sent social media users into a frenzy, one wrote: “My local Morrisons is selling actual sacks of wet eggs.
“This is the most wretched and cursed item I have ever witnessed.”
They added: “Also it’s in the meal deal section, which implies this is considered lunch?
“Does this count as a main, or a snack? I have so many questions, and no answers.”
This also isn’t the only way you can get items for pennies in supermarkets.
B&M shoppers can use its scanner app which allows them to discover discounted items before the staff have even reduced them.
The scanner lets you see if the item’s price is cheaper than advertised on the shop shelf.
Products that are typically discounted are seasonal items and old stock that B&M is trying to shift, or they’re labelled “big brands” and “big savings”.
One savvy shopper got £70 worth of goods for under a fiver.
