Inspired by gestures of goodwill seen during the coronavirus pandemic, the advert sees different acts of kindness being played out.

Instead of telling just one story, this year’s ad features nine different scenes with each being made from a different art form, including live action, CGI and animation.

The scenes are tied together by a heart emblem which is passed from scene to scene as good deeds are carried out.

In another move away from previous years, the 2020 release is the first to feature an original artist instead of a cover.

British soul singer Celeste is the voice behind this year’s advert with her original song A Little Love.

John Lewis has also released an additional 30 second advert on the side which encourages people to donate to this year’s partner charities partners FareShare and Home-Start.

How do I watch the John Lewis adverts 2020?

Both adverts are available to watch on John Lewis and Waitrose’s social media pages – so Twitter and Facebook – from 7am today.

You can also watch both clips on the official John Lewis and Waitrose YouTube pages.

Watching online is free to do, so it won’t cost you to watch the adverts.

They’ll also be airing on TV, with both adverts getting their debut slot time tomorrow (November 14) during The Voice ad break on ITV.

The Voice starts at 8.40pm.

What other Christmas adverts has John Lewis done?

Its 2019 release starred Edgar the excitable, but very accident-prone dragon, which was aired on November 14.

It followed the 2018 Elton John inspired advert, which saw the pop legend’s life and career played out, on November 15 of that year.

Both the 2017 Moz the Monster and 2016 Buster the Boxer adverts came out on November 10.

And before those, the 2015 Man on the Moon and the 2014 Monty the Penguin adverts were released on November 6.

Here are all the John Lewis Christmas adverts through the years from 2007 to 2019.

Last month, locals in London thought they’d spotted the ad being made after a filming crew were spotted with fake snow.

We’ve rounded up all the Christmas adverts so far, including McDonald’s and Disney.
