We know all about the changes because WhatsApp typically tests updates in the beta version of the app first.

The cyber-sleuths at WhatsApp blog WABetaInfo have dug into the app to uncover what’s coming up.

And there are five key changes that you’ll definitely want to know about.

None of them are live on the general release version of WhatsApp yet, so it’s a real sneak peek.

Here are some of the biggest changes…

  • The ability to detect text in WhatsApp photos, so you can copy and paste it (testing in beta)
  • The ability to move WhatsApp chat history between Android phones without using Google Drive (under development)
  • The ability to forward media with a caption (testing in beta)
  • A block shortcut in the chat list (under development)
  • A camera mode that makes it much easier to record video (under development)

Unfortunately it’s impossible to say exactly when these changes are going live.

WhatsApp could take weeks or even months to roll them out to the general public.
