RING doorbells are built to last several months before they need a recharge, but there’s one mistake many users make.

The more events and videos captured by Amazon Ring devices, the more their battery is used.

It means using the popular Live View feature can often drain the battery faster.

“If your device is capturing an excessive number of events each day, you will likely need to recharge your battery sooner,” according to experts at Ring.  

Dialling down the use of the feature is a quick fix to getting the most out of your device’s battery life.

Ring devices come with motion detection sensors which are constantly scanning the areas they’ve been set to monitor.

People walking past the property may trigger the motion notifications over and over again.

To prevent too many activity notifications Ring has advised users to lower the sensitivity of their Motion Settings.

To adjust Motion Frequency for your video doorbell, open the Ring app.

The tap the three horizontal lines in the top left of the dashboard.

Hit the option for Devices > select video doorbell > Motion Settings > Advanced Settings > Motion Frequency > then specify how often your device should check for motion.

Users can choose from three options: Frequently, Regularly or Periodically.

But if you suspect the battery in your Ring device is running out, you can check in the Ring app.

Open the app, and click the three horizontal lines in the top left.

Then tap Devices > select video doorbell > Power Settings > Battery Status: Battery Level.
