The offer lasts for the films opening weekend, from Friday January 13 to Sunday January 15.

However, only film fans with the same name as the film’s titular creepy AI doll will be eligible to claim a free screening.

All cinemagoers lucky enough to be called Megan will have to do is turn up to their local Showcase Cinema or Showcase Cinema Deluxe with valid photo ID.

Acceptable ID includes driving licences and passports and should be presented at the box office.

The chain confirmed that the special freebie will also be available to anyone with variations of the name such as Meghan, Meggan or Meg.

The offer covers all their branches nationwide, so no Megans are left out.

Jon Dixon, Showcase Cinemas’ UK Marketing Director, said: “We’re really excited to be launching this exclusive giveaway to Megans nationwide.

“M3GAN has already soared its way to box office success in the US and now it’s the UK’s turn to experience this sci-fi smash hit.

“In honour of the creepy character, we wanted to give its namesake a reward, in the form of a free ticket.

“We can’t wait to for our guests to be on the edge of their seats as they enjoy this action-packed ride play out on the big screen!”

M3GAN stars Amie Donald as the lifelike AI doll of the same name, who takes on a life of her own with disturbing consequences.

It has already made over $30 million at the box office after its US release last week, well above its predicted $17-20 million.

It ranked second at the US and Canada box office, only coming behind Avatar: The Way of the Water which became the seventh highest grossing film of all time.
