The only day in the year that newspapers aren’t published is Christmas Day in the UK- other than that, daily nationals are printed all year long non-stop.

This means that newspapers are published on Christmas eve, Boxing day, New Year’s eve and New Year’s day.

There is a long standing agreement between newspaper publishers to not publish a newspaper on Christmas day.

This is to give the writers and the people who deliver the news a break to be able to celebrate the festivities.

Are newspapers delivered over the Bank Holiday?

This depends where you receive your newspapers from.

Papers arrive in stores as normal over the bank holiday – with newspapers delivered as usual.

Some smaller newsagents might not provide normal deliveries on this day – or the person on your paper round may be taking a well-earned break.

Also, your local supermarket might be closed or have reduced hours for the bank holiday, so you won’t be able to purchase your newspaper from there.
