Demand: Rita Ora wears Kurt Geiger

Festive sales at Kurt Geiger have got off to a flying start as shoppers snap up its accessories, according to the fashion label.

Creative designer Rebecca Farrar-Hockley said sales of gifts – including bags, tumblers and hats – have shown that ‘significant growth and demand in the UK is very high’. Sales of those ranges have soared by more than 70 per cent since the beginning of November, she said. ‘We are cautiously optimistic.’

Kurt Geiger this week launches a Transport for London range featuring a limited collection inspired by the Elizabeth line’s purple shade.

‘Our home city is always a significant influence on our designs and this collection is also a subtle tribute to Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II,’ said Farrar-Hockley. It captures ‘the vibrancy and elegance’ of the line’s colour.

There are signs that customers are buying higher quality goods from Kurt Geiger as the average transaction value is up 20 per cent on last year.

‘Customers are loving some of our more expensive styles,’ Farrar-Hockley said. ‘These typically have a higher than average retail price due to the workmanship required.’

However, some fashion retailers have complained that sales are slower than expected, with the milder weather hitting trade.
