SHOPPERS can get a Christmas dinner for just £5 a head at one major retailer – and it’s not where you’ll expect.
With Christmas just 25 days away, people are already planning where to buy their grub for the special day.

Shoppers at the discount retailer, Poundland, will now be able to buy all the ingredients required for a full Christmas dinner at almost 500 stores.
It comes after Poundland started rolling out the sale of fresh and frozen food across hundreds of its stores back in August.
A family of five can get their main Christmas meal, including a turkey, for just £5 head – or £25 in total.
And those looking for a four-course feast only need to spend £1.85 more per head – or £34.25 in total.
For the main meal, customers can get the following for £25:
- Stuffing – £1
- Pigs in blankets – £2.50
- Roast potatoes – £1.50
- Frozen turkey Crown – £15
- Gravy – £1
- Parsnips – £2
- Sprouts – £1
- Carrots – £1
Those craving a starter, dessert and cheeseboard, as well as the main meal, can also buy the following:
- Prawns – £3
- Baileys profiteroles – £2
- Cheese selection – £2.75
- Crackers – £1.50

Poundland commercial director Tim Bettley said: “This is no cracker joke – for the first time we’re making sure millions of our shoppers can buy their Christmas dinner at Poundland.
“Hundreds of our stores now have chilled and frozen food with stores now also offering fresh fruit and vegetables.
“And in more and more places across the UK, we’re offering an alternative to the big supermarkets, whether it’s for everyday meals or the special ones like Christmas Day.”
If you are still thinking about where to buy your Christmas feat, it’s worth having a quick shop around first as you might be able to find a similar product cheaper elsewhere.
As an example, Morrisons will start selling a fresh small turkey crown for just £8.99 from December 20 – and it promises to feed up to five people.
If you’re after a whole frozen Turkey you’ll have to shop elsewhere.
Aldi and Lidl shoppers can grab a medium British whole turkey which feeds seven to eleven people for just £15.99 – 99p more than Poundland’s frozen turkey crown.
And if you’re looking to feed nine heads or more, Morrisons sells a whole frozen turkey for just £21.99.
We’ve listed the cheapest turkeys for sale this Christmas – beware that if you want a fresh turkey you’ll need to spend more.
Poundland said that it hopes to have its chilled and frozen ranges in all of its 800-plus stores by the end of 2023.
The discount retailer is also opening seven new branches and one store extension next week.
The new stores will all open on Saturday, December 10 in what the retailer is calling a “Super Saturday”.
New stores are opening in the following locations:
- Rainham, Kent – employing 16
- Swindon, Wiltshire – employing 15
- Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire – employing 15
- Tipton, West Midlands – employing 16
- Craigavon, Northern Ireland – employing 32
The Crown Point Shopping Park in Denton, Greater Manchester has been extended to create a “supersize store” employing a further 20 new staff members.
Poundland’s Peterborough Store has relocated to Brotherhood Retail Park creating another superstore that now employs 40 staff.
In Llandudno, Poundland’s local store has relocated to the former M&S sight on Moyston Street and now employs 30 colleagues.
