Nominations for the 65th annual Grammy Awards — which could see a rematch of 2017, when Adele and Beyoncé competed in the top categories — will be announced via livestream on Tuesday, beginning at 12 p.m.

This year’s show in Las Vegas, delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic, saw big wins by Silk Sonic, Olivia Rodrigo and the “Late Show” bandleader Jon Batiste, who took home album of the year for “We Are,” among his field-leading five wins.

On Feb. 5, the Grammys will return to Los Angeles, complete with five new categories, including songwriter of the year (for a nonperforming, non-producing musician) and a noncompetitive honorary award recognizing the best song for social change. Other new fields include best spoken word poetry album, best alternative music performance, best Americana music performance and best score soundtrack for video games and other interactive media.

In addition to Beyoncé and Adele, whose albums were commercial and critical successes, contenders who have dominated the charts this year and are eligible for awards include the Latin pop phenom Bad Bunny, the pop singer Harry Styles, the Atlanta rapper Future and Kendrick Lamar, who has 39 career nominations and 14 wins.

Other stars have opted out: Bruno Mars’s R&B duo with Anderson .Paak, Silk Sonic, won four Grammys last year, including record and song of the year, but chose to withdraw its album from consideration. Drake and the Weeknd, both of whom have expressed dissatisfaction with the awards process, also reportedly declined to submit.

Last year, in a last-minute change, the Recording Academy expanded its top four Grammys categories to 10 nominees, up from eight.
