WHATSAPP is making a big change to “silencing” contacts with Do Not Disturb.

It will make it much easier when you want to shut off from the world – and keep pesky phone calls at bay.

WhatsApp usually trials changes in the beta test version of the app.

Now the sleuths at WABetaInfo have dug into the app to uncover a tweak to Do Not Disturb on the Android beta.

Now when you activate Do Not Disturb, you’ll be able to see which calls you’ve muted and missed.

The system-wide Android Do Not Disturb is designed to block unwanted contact.

And if you use it to silence WhatsApp, you’ll now be able to see a list of missed voice calls that were snuffed out by Do Not Disturb.

When you go on your call list, you’ll see a purple banner on some calls that reads: “Silenced by Do Not Disturb”.

Importantly, this information is only visible to you as the call recipient.

The person who makes the call won’t have any idea that you had Do Not Disturb activated.

It’s a handy change, but sadly it’s impossible to know exactly when this will roll out to the general public.

The update could take days, weeks or even months before we see it on the live version of WhatsApp proper.

But you can check it out on the Android beta right now.

If you want to try the latest WhatsApp features first, follow our simple guide below to join the beta.
