A British executive at Saudi Aramco spent a week in an Indian jail alongside ‘very serious’ criminals having visited the country for a yoga retreat.
Fergus MacLeod, head of investor relations at the world’s largest oil exporter, was arrested at a hotel in the Valley of Flowers National Park in the Himalayan state of Uttarakhand.
He had a satellite phone, banned in India for foreign nationals without government permission since the 2008 Mumbai attacks when terrorists used them. Police arrested him on July 12, detaining the 62- year-old – who said he was treated well – until July 18.
