Stylish: Zara is often worn by the Princess of Wales
Zara is boosting its green credentials with the launch of a repair, resale and donation platform for its clothes.
The clothing chain’s Zara PreOwned will let shoppers in the UK give away, sell, or fix up clothes instead of sending them to landfill.
High Street retailers are trying to show they are environmentally-friendly – particularly in comparison to fast-fashion firms who have been criticised for their use of cheap materials for clothes that can be worn as little as once before being binned.
Brands including Marks & Spencer and John Lewis have made similar moves.
Zara said the launch is part of owner Inditex’s move towards reducing waste and cutting the amount of raw materials it uses.
It will release an app on November 3 through which shoppers can offer their unwanted clothes for resale.
They will also be able to request clothing pick-ups from home for donation to the Red Cross.
And shoppers will be able to request repairs for Zara clothing from any season.
