That business turned out to be Australia’s first beauty e-commerce website.

The now 43-year-old from Melbourne had the idea for Adore Beauty in 1999 after spotting an opening in the online market after noticing women found department store “intimidating”.

And fast forward 18 years, the site stocks over 200 brands and is a $28million empire.

“It was just me in my garage, with my cat, hoping that I would get an order and packing it up myself, and putting it in the little cart and taking it up to the post office every day,” Kate told 7.30.

“So yes, it was humble beginnings.”

Kate was a broke university student when she forked out and invested in her future.

And it wasn’t until 2014 she landed her biggest deal with the Estee Lauder Group (ESL).

The ESL own major brands such as Bobbi Brown, Dr.Jart+, Jo Malone, Mac, LE LABO, Tom Ford, Too Faced, Clinique and more.
