GREGGS has extended its evening opening hours in hundreds of selected stores.

It comes as the bakery chain begins to roll out its new evening menu – which features customisable pizzas and hot desserts.

Greggs posted about the news on Facebook and said: “Yep, you heard us right, now loads of Greggs shops are open even later.

“And what’s more, there’s new pizzas and hot desserts, as well as your usual favourites.”

The new menu launch and changes to operating hours come only two months after the chain extended the opening time across 300 of its shops to 8pm.

And now the chain has confirmed that it will keep even more of its shops open later by the end of 2022 – although it is yet to provide a full list of affected stores.

A spokesperson for Greggs said at the start of this year, the firm had 135 shops trading past 8pm, however there are now over 500 shops across the UK trading late.

Most shops were open until 5:30pm or 6:30pm but are now open until 8, 8:30, 9pm, 10pm or even 11pm depending on location.

For example, multiple stores in London are open after 10pm. The Westminster Underground shop and Victoria Coach Station store are open into the 10pm hour.

And the Greggs at London Bridge Station is even open till 11pm.

Over 10 Greggs shops in Manchester are open past 8pm with the one at Manchester Victoria Station now open till 11.30pm.

Two Greggs stores in the bakery chains home town of Newcastle are even open until 4am.

Greggs currently has 2,239 stores and you can find out your nearest shop’s opening times by using the chain’s store locator tool.

Once you type in your postcode, it will list the closest stores – and their opening times.

Customers can even specify to only list stores open late.

The extended opening hours come as the bakery chain launches a handful of new menu items.

These include customisable pizzas, sharing platters and hot desserts.

Customers opting for a customisable pizza will be able to choose three tasty toppings, including chargrilled chicken, Mexican chicken, pepperoni, red onion, jalapenos and mixed peppers, on top of a focaccia base.

The new pizza option sees costs start from £2.20 and go on sale after 4pm.

But if customers are looking to share, Greggs offers hot to go deals from £4.80.

Customers can bag tasty meal deal bundles or a range of sides including southern fried potato wedges, spicy BBQ chicken bites, southern fried chicken goujons or vegan southern fried chicken-free goujons to take dinnertime up a notch.

And pizza meal deal bundles include a boxed pizza, sharing wedges and a hot sweet.

The bakery chain is also selling hot Yum Yum’s – a hot doughnut covered in a sticky sugar glaze and served with a milk chocolate or salted caramel flavour dipping sauce.

But it’s not all good news as the price of a Greggs sausage roll has risen from £1.10 to £1.15 in recent weeks – an increase of 5p.

It is the third time this year that the bakery chain has hiked its prices.

But the bakery chain says it is committed to keeping the prices of its other promotions the same, such as breakfast meal at £3.50 and an americano at £1.95.
