A technology startup that initially sought to help medical and other clients predict and prevent illnesses is making an unusual transition to becoming a healthcare provider itself.

Los Angeles-based Akido Labs Inc. formed in 2015 and until recently focused on selling software to healthcare, government and nonprofit groups.
