Shocking pictures show the extent of the damage – with walls left blackened by smoke in the kitchen and living area.

Parts of the ceiling in the kitchen are also hanging mid-air, while the floor is covered in filth.

Rubble is scattered across the living area, where the ceiling has crumbled away above the cosy fireplace.

Buyers would also have to remove the rubbish left behind by previous owners, as bits of cardboard and furniture covers have been discarded.

Despite the damage, the apartment, which has a lounge, kitchen and bathroom, could be the perfect doer-upper.

It’s just 0.3 miles from Chichester Metro Station, making it easy to reach the rest of the region.

South Shields beach is also a stone’s throw away.

Pattinson Estate Agents said house hunters have already started to show interest.
