Saga has beefed up its top team by appointing three senior executives and board members.

The over-50s travel and insurance group said the appointments would help it to become a ‘superbrand’ for older people in the UK.

Saga is seeking to turn around its performance after years of share price decline that has seen it lose almost 90 per cent of its value.

Chief executive Euan Sutherland was appointed at the end of 2019 to revive the group’s fortunes, but his attempts were thwarted by Covid. But the appointments mark an attempt by Sutherland to get the turnaround back on track.

Saga said insurance and financial technology specialist Anand Aithal will join the board next month.

Michael O’Donohue will also join in a new chief data officer role. He previously held the same post at National Lottery operator Camelot.

And its cruise arm will see Ian Simkins become chairman. He is also chairman of luxury villa specialist The Thinking Traveller and Asia-focused tour firm Inside Travel Group.
