Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus says world ignores Ethiopian humanitarian disaster being inflicted on six million people by their own government

The head of the World Health Organization described the crisis in Ethiopia’s Tigray region as “the worst disaster on Earth” as he wondered aloud if the reason global leaders had not responded was “the colour of the skin of the people”.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus – himself an ethnic Tigrayan – said the situation caused by the conflict in his home country was worse than any other humanitarian crisis in the world.
