A HUNGRY Brit was charged an eye-watering £249 after ordering a Greggs sausage, bean and cheese melt.
Liam Halewood treated himself to the pastry through the Just Eat app and happily tucked in – but he was shocked when he saw the bill.
His order total – for the Greggs melt, a bag of crisps, four cookies and a hot sandwich deal – came to £11.80.
Liam, 36, was then expecting to pay a further £3 for delivery and service, but instead he was billed a whopping £261.39 all in.
The singer, a Boy George impersonator, shared his receipt on Twitter to urge others to check their bank accounts in case they too had fallen victim to the glitch.
Addressing Just Eat ambassadors Katy Perry and Snoop Dogg, who reportedly each raked in £5million for their 60-second adverts for the brand, he said: “No wonder they can pay you megabucks.
“Just been charged £249 for a delivery from Just Eat.
“All jokes, probably get it back, but bloody hell is my order coming on a flight?”
Liam, from Allerton, Liverpool, has since had the extortionate fee refunded – and was also given £25 off his next order.
But he has warned others they should confirm the correct amount of money has been taken after every purchase.

Liam told the Liverpool Echo: “For a big company, this shouldn’t happen really.
“They have rectified it now, but I think it is important when you’re paying on your card over the internet and phone that you do check things.”
He later joked on Facebook: “If I don’t get a Greggs sponsorship after this I’ll be fuming.”
Liam also offered to buy anyone who “needs a good meal and is feeling the pinch” with his credit.
A spokesperson for Just Eat told The Sun: “We’re aware of an issue on our platform yesterday that briefly affected the price of delivery orders for a very small percentage of our customers.
“This issue is now completely resolved and we are in the process of offering a full refund for all customers affected.”
What to do if you think you’ve been overcharged
IF you’ve bought something and then checked your bank account and noticed the amount is different, you may be entitled to some money back.
Sometimes refunds are offered automatically, but in other cases you will need to contact the platform you made the purchase through.
In this case, Liam needed to go through Just Eat, not Greggs, as Just Eat took the payment.
If that doesn’t get you anywhere, you can also contact your bank for assistance, or try the Citizens Advice consumer helpline.
