Amazon Inc. on Thursday posted a net loss for the second straight quarter but said it is making progress in controlling costs, as the e-commerce company grapples with slowing customer demand and works through excess capacity it committed to during the early days of the pandemic.
The shortfall in the three months through June followed a loss in the first quarter of 2022 that was Amazon’s first in seven years. Amazon Chief Executive Andy Jassy, who took the role a little over a year ago, is now shepherding the company through one of its worst stretches for financial performance in Amazon’s history.
