GOOGLE has given its Play Store a brand new logo, though you’d be forgiven for not noticing it.

The tech giant has decided to simplify the colour scheme for their app store’s image.

And it’s not some pointless branding exercise either.

The firm has gone with a refreshed look to celebrate Google Play‘s big 10 year anniversary.

The app store as we know it today came to be in 2012.

It was previously known as the Android Market before then.

The most observant among us may notice something familiar about the new logo though.

It’s more closely aligned to Google’s existing tech portfolio.

“We’re introducing a new logo that better reflects the magic of Google and matches the branding shared by many of our helpful products — Search, Assistant, Photos, Gmail and more,” Google Play boss Tian Lim said.

“A decade later, more than 2.5 billion people in over 190 countries use Google Play every month to discover apps, games and digital content.

“And more than 2 million developers work with us to build their businesses and reach people around the globe.”

Google also has a little offer for Android users to mark the occasion as well.

People can get their hands on a Google Play Points boost.
