TSB and Aldi have become the latest businesses to hand staff more money to help them deal with the rising cost of living.
Around 4,500 staff at TSB are to be given a one-off £1,000 payment, which the bank says is not a bonus but ‘an additional cost of living payment’.
The payment will be made to all those at the bank earning £35,000 or less and will be made in two stages – one in October and another in February.
Aldi will give 26,000 store workers across the UK a second pay rise since the start of the year as inflation keeps surging.
The German discount supermarket, which runs 970 stores in the UK, said store assistants will see with their minimum pay increase to £10.50 an hour, and £11.95 for those in Greater London.
TSB spokesperson said: ‘We know that the rising cost of living is a concern for many of our colleagues, so we will be supporting eligible colleagues this winter with an additional cost of living payment of £1,000.’
