BRITS can try PlayStation Plus for free this week thanks to a rare deal that lets you try out tonnes of games without paying a penny.

The subscription service is required to play games online and even bags you a couple of free PS4 and PS5 titles each month.

It starts at just under £7 a month and was revamped last month to add hundred of new games.

Sony is now offering gamers a seven-day free trial so they can try it before they buy.

The deal grants you access to the slightly pricier PS Plus Premium and Extra tiers.

Those offer additional benefits such as a downloadable catalogue of nearly 400 PS4 and PS5 games.

A PS Plus Extra one-month subscription costs £10.99 while PS Plus Premium for the same period is priced at £13.49.

If you’re unsure about spending that much, you can try for a week without paying a penny.

To get a free week-long trial, head to the PlayStation Plus website. You must not already be a Plus subscriber.

You’ll be asked to choose whether you want to sign up for a one-month, three-month, or 12-month subscription of Extra or Premium.

Make sure to cancel this before the free week is up if you don’t want to get charged.

Be aware that you must sign up with payment information and that you will be charged once the trial is up unless you cancel.

If you cancel the trial before the week is up, you will still have access to the subscription for the full week.

It comes after Sony last week announced a loyalty rewards scheme that adds funds to your PlayStation wallet the more you play.

PlayStation Stars will be free to sign up to and is set to launch later this year.

The scheme will give players loyalty points for participating in various campaigns for the programme.

As the company explained in a blog post, these will include actions such as playing a game every month, earning specific trophies, or being the first in your area to achieve the platinum on a big title.

These points can then be spent in an online catalogue on things such as certain PlayStation Store items or PSN Wallet funds.

The company said it is also creating a range of digital collectables for fans.
