It is thought to contain small pieces of metal which makes the product unsafe, the Food Standards Agency said.

The agency urged customers who brought the product not to feed it to dogs.

And it told them to return it to a store with or without a receipt for a full refund.

Batch codes  LU1-302, LU1-343, and LU1343D are affected. The code can be found at the bottom of each product.

“The Encore helpdesk is also available here [link]. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this precautionary recall may cause.

“No other Encore products are affected by this recall.”

Yesterday shoppers were urged to be careful if they purchased a popular heatwave toy after it also received an urgent recall.

The Fansteck Bubble Machine is a portable bubble maker that was listed for sale on websites including Amazon

But a government safety report has said that the machine presents a “high risk” of electric shock.

This is because it is inadequately earthed and the terminal connections are loose, which could allow the product to become live.

The report said a sample of the product did not have adequate instructions and safety information in a language easily understood by consumers.

“As the body of the product is metal, the whole unit can become live presenting the risk of electric shock,” the report added.
