PLAYSTATION has just announced a new loyalty rewards scheme, which will add funds to your PlayStation wallet the more games you play.
PlayStation Stars will be free to sign up to and is set to launch later this year.

The scheme will give players loyalty points for participating in various campaigns for the programme.
As the company explained in a blog post, these will include actions such as playing a game every month, earning specific trophies, or being the first in your area to achieve the platinum on a big title.
These points can then be spent in an online catalogue on things such as certain PlayStation Store items or PSN Wallet funds.
The company is also creating a range of digital collectibles for fans.
These are digital 3D models including characters from some of PlayStation’s most popular franchises.
In an interview with The Washington Post, Grace Chen, vice-president of network advertising, wanted to make sure players knew that these collectibles are not NFTs.
“It’s definitely not NFTs. Definitely not. You can’t trade them or sell them.
“It is not leveraging any blockchain technologies and definitely not NFTs.”

Chen also confirmed that before the company launches the scheme, it is working to minimise the likelihood of fraudulent activity.
This includes people selling services to achieve trophies on other’s accounts, or hacking in platinum trophies.
PlayStation hopes to see an uptake in PlayStation Plus subscriptions using this model.
People who have joined the service, even at the cheapest Essential tier, will earn more loyalty points as part of the scheme.
The name Stars was chosen as PlayStation wanted to promote the idea that its opportunities are unbound.
It also fits in with PlayStation’s slogan “play has no limits”.
On the reasons for the launch of the loyalty programme, a system similar to My Nintendo Rewards, Chen said:
“We wanted to create a program that honours that journey and the role that PlayStation may have had in someone’s life.
“We wanted to do that in a way that only PlayStation can.”
