A LANDLORD has been slammed for charging almost £600 per month for a tiny city flat.

The Cardiff property is listed at £133 per week as well as a whopping £675 deposit.

The lofty price has attracted criticism due to the tiny size of the bedsit.

The two-room property features a bedroom/living room/kitchen combo with the bed pushed up against a small fridge freezer.

Just a foot or two away is the kitchen: one long shelf featuring two up two down cupboards and a one-rack oven with an electric hob on top.

Completing the mini kitchen is an equally mini sink and a washing machine tucked in under the worktop.

The second room is used as a bathroom and is even smaller than the first.

It consists of a sink, toilet and small bathtub/shower unit all within touching distance of one another.

Unsurprisingly, the property is advertised for one person.

However, should the lucky tenant want to have guests over there is plenty of room, with a two-seater sofa opposite the bed.

The high rent sparked outrage online with one commenter fuming “That’s almost three times our mortgage for a three bedroom house in Cilfynydd, a 20 minute walk into Pontypridd.”

BBC newsreader Peter Gillibrand even chimed in to the debate, tweeting: “One landlord in Cardiff is charging almost £600 for one room and a bathroom.”

The bedsit was advertised on Rightmove by letting agent MGY.

The listing described the cramped property as a “Freshly decorated studio flat within walking distance to Thompson Park and shopping facilities on Cowbridge Road East.”

The listing adds: “The accommodation comprises lounge/bedroom, kitchen area with appliances, shower room plus gas central heating.”
