Film and TV set designer 4Wood has been bought by private equity firm Connection Capital in a £9million deal.

The Cardiff-based business, which has worked on the BBC’s Sherlock – which stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, – as well as Netflix’s Sex Education, was founded in 2008 by husband-and-wife team Scott and Lynsey Fisher.

The pair, who were the firm’s only shareholders but took a step back from operations in 2019, will receive a multi-million-pound payout as they sell 4Wood.

Scott Fisher said: ‘We are incredibly proud, and it has been hugely rewarding to have built 4Wood from a small family business to the multifaceted creative business it is today.

The investment from Connection Capital along with their shared passion and vision to progress 4Wood, and the talented creatives we are so proud to work with, will undoubtedly take 4Wood to the next level.’

Andrew Forse, director of 4Wood, said: ‘This is a really exciting time for the management team and a fantastic opportunity to grow our business with our new backers.’
