Snap is launching a subscription plan that unlocks exclusive features on the Snapchat app for a monthly fee, becoming the latest social media platform to seek revenue beyond advertising.

The plan, called Snapchat+, will cost $3.99 a month and give users access to what the company calls exclusive, experimental and prerelease features, such as an indicator that shows how many friends are interested in posted stories. Snap said that the features will evolve over time and some will eventually become available to the broader user base.
