THE next-generation iPhone might be available in a new funky colour option when it hits the market later this year.

Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 14 in September in four models: iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

If the latest leaks and rumours are anything to go by, we might just see each of these models available in a striking purple finish.

According to Tom’s Guide, the purple version of the iPhone 14 Pro will be a darker matte shade, in keeping with the rest of the Apple Pro handset aesthetic.

Other reports have suggested this is the case, too.

In April, a now-deleted Weibo post spotted by AppleTrack claimed that a purple iPhone option was underway.

If the rumours are true, this won’t be the first time Apple has given iPhone users a purple option.

Last year, the company released a purple version of the iPhone 11 in 2019 and in 2021, revealed purple options for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini half a year after the handsets originally debuted.

However, we’ve never seen an iPhone “Pro model using purple.

Other iPhone 14 colour options purported to be coming this September are the standard black, white, blue and [Product] Red options.

These are the same colourways available for the current iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro devices.

It’s also believed that the Cupertino firm will be dropping the pink and green colours this time around.

Apple is yet to confirm a date for the launch, but going off previous years’ events – we expect the event to take place on Tuesday, September 13 or Wednesday, September 14.

That would be followed by iPhone 14 pre-orders on Friday, September 16. And we’d expect an actual iPhone 14 release date of Friday, September 23.

Other rumours for the launch include a new, more powerful A16 chip and the removal of the notch at the top of the screen, which might be replaced with a “hole punch and pill” cut-out.

However, we won’t know anything for sure until Apple makes an official announcement.
