PARIS—French prosecutors are investigating disclosure of safety issues at a nuclear-power plant run by EDF the latest setback for the electricity giant as Europe struggles with high energy prices in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Prosecutors in Marseille opened the investigation last month, following a complaint from a former top official at the Tricastin power plant, located in the south of France, according to the prosecutors’ office. The complaint alleged the plant had a policy of covering up safety incidents. Prosecutors are investigating whether the plant endangered people or violated nuclear regulations and environmental laws, the office said.
