Sheryl Sandberg’s departure leaves a big hole at Facebook parent Meta Platforms but analysts say her work setting up the platform as a revenue-generating juggernaut provides a solid base for her successor.

The longtime chief operating officer of the social media giant on Wednesday said she would step down later this year after 14 profitable and sometimes controversial years with the company. She will continue to serve on Meta’s board, while current chief growth officer Javier Olivan was named the next COO.
