TIKTOK has developed a new ‘Clear Mode’ function that will limit distractions on the app.
The popular social media platform TikTok has been working on some new features for its 1 billion users.
One new tool is ‘Clear Mode’, which reportedly removes usernames, captions, and audio buttons from the interface.
Users can also hide likes, comments, and shares for even cleaner scrolling, per Tech Crunch.
TikTok, based in China, is testing the features on select users to see if it can better provide a distraction-free experience.
The new setting has been spotted by several TikTokers and highlighted on Twitter by social media consultant Matt Navarra.
In a tweet, Navarra shared screenshots of ‘Clear Mode’ from his TikTok account’s interface.
Users who have access to the setting will see the option when they tap and hold the screen, per the images.
Once they do that, ‘Clear Mode’ should appear under the Add to Favorites button in the menu.
Clicking on that will then enable a distraction-free viewing experience.

It is currently unclear if and when TikTok will launch the tool for TikTok users at large.
If officially implemented, the feature could prove to be helpful in occasions where usernames or captions cover important parts of a video.
However, it could also mean that users have more trouble putting down their devices while binge-watching content, Phone Area reported.
Along with ‘Clear Mode’, TikTok is testing a number of other features for its platform.
One of these features is a live mobile gaming tool that will allow content creators to better engage with fans while live streaming.
Another tool TikTok is working on is a private dislike button, which would let users identify comments they think are irrelevant.
