APPLE is giving users a very useful feature that all app makers are being forced to introduce in little over a month’s time.

The tech giant is well known for its strict rules that often rub developers up the wrong way.

But it’s the users who gain at the end of the day and this latest change is no different.

From June 30, apps that have the ability to create an account in them must also have a button for users to delete it if they choose to quit.

It’s designed to stop app makers from sneakily trying to keep you involved with them when you may want to leave – and put an end to long searches through FAQ pages.

They won’t be allowed to hide the button out of sight either.

The rules clearly state that an account deletion option must be “easy to find”.

So it’s good news if there’s an app you’ve been wanting to delete your account from but haven’t been able to find a way to do it.

“It’s insufficient to only provide the ability to temporarily disable or deactivate an account,” Apple warned developers.

“People should be able to delete the account along with their personal data.”

Apple originally planned to implement the policy at the end of January.

But the iPhone maker decided to extend the deadline until the summer to give developers enough time to prepare.

There are some exceptions of course, such as highly-regulated areas like banking where companies will be allowed to make the process a bit more in-depth given the importance.

Developers will also have to navigate the minefield of laws in each country, to ensure they only keep user account information they’re allowed to, while deleting the rest – which they should be doing already.
