A LONDON bolthole will be a luxury escape from the bustling heart of the capital for its lucky new owner – but it has one very strange feature inside.

The stunning apartment in Bayswater has gone on the market for £1.25million, despite offering just two bedrooms.

But would-be buyers with plenty of cash may well be left scratching their heads over an unusual addition to the top-of-the-range flat.

In spite of the hefty price tag, the flat has been kitted out with a whopping builders’-style ladder to a mezzanine level.

The structure juts out right into the middle of the living space, taking up plenty of room in front of a swanky three-piece suite.

The current owner appears to be using the little nook to store documents – and indeed it seems too small to be useful for much else.

Estate agents Chesterton make no mention of the ladder in their listing for the property in Porchester Terrace North.

In the ad, they describe the two-bed, two-bath maisonette as “ideally located” for both the gardens of Porchester Square and transport links at Paddington Station.

The property covers 914sq ft and the new owner will have a share of the freehold, they said.

Often, when ladders are used in London homes, it’s to make the most of a small space.

But the owner faces a sheer climb to get into a bed located on a small mezzanine level.

Meanwhile, a “dangerous” flat in Dublin has a ladder to get in and out of the front door.

The property is fitted with a 10-rung aluminium ladder as it doesn’t have a set of stairs.

Astonishing photos of the lay-out were shared by housing protest group Take Back The City.
