The bakery chain has told shoppers not to eat some chicken bakes sold in the supermarket’s freezer aisle.

Anyone who has bought the affected bakes can return them to Iceland stores for a full refund.

In a notice to customers, Greggs said the £2 pack of savoury pastries could contain pieces of hard dark coloured plastic.

The product has been recalled over fears that shoppers could choke on the foreign item.

The chicken bakes affected have a best before date of September 19, 2022.

The pack weighs 306g and contains two chicken flavoured bakes.

No other products are affected by the recall, and chicken bakes with other best before dates do not pose a risk.

Iceland is the only retailer which sells Greggs products. Chicken bakes sold fresh in Greggs stores are fine to eat.

A notice to customers from the Food Standards Agency said: “lf you have purchased the above product please do not consume. Please return to your nearest Iceland store for a full refund.”
