The TikTok kissing trend may go back two years, but it’s still got some internet users under its spell.
The kissing trend is part of a challenge, where a user kisses their best friend just to see their reaction while filming the entire thing.
The TikTok hashtag #kissingmybestfriend has more than 1billion views.
Most often, it’s female users kissing their “platonic” best guy friends.
Some users use the guise of doing a TikTok dance or another trend to get their best friend to be on camera, while others simply set up their cameras and go in for the smooch.
Many times, the users caption the videos with the back story of their relationship, for example, “I’ve had a crush on my best friend for five years!”
Many of the videos appear to be potentially staged, or it seems that the best friend has been given a heads up, which is nice because it indicates consent, even at the level of kissing.
More often than anything, the best friend kisses the initiator back, leading to a match.

Sometimes, though, the other person goes in for a hug instead or subtly rejects the would-be-kisser in another way.
What should you consider before trying the kissing challenge?
While many of the challenge “wins” may be shown on TikTok, it’s just as possible that rejections happen, and the embarrassed party doesn’t share it on the platform.

Obviously, any of the trending dancing videos will likely land you two with an exciting account, but there’s so much more to TikTok thank dancing.
