EASTER eggs come in all shapes and sizes — but as we prepare to indulge, which ones pack the most chocolate for your money?
If you buy a £3 bar of Dairy Milk (360g), you are paying just 83p per 100g.

But beware — few Easter eggs give you the same value.
Martyn James, consumer expert for The Sun’s Squeeze Team, says: “They are the ultimate in ‘all style, no substance’.
“Check the weight of the egg when buying, and don’t be fooled by flashy packaging which implies there are loads of goodies inside — you may well be disappointed.”
We looked at some of this year’s best-selling eggs and worked out in each case what you are paying for 100g of chocolate.
A Mars offering was the easiest on the pocket, at £1.20 per 100g.
Some supermarket eggs were also good buys — including Asda’s Extra Special, Extra Thick Honeycomb Pretzel and Almond Milk Chocolate Egg at £1.25 per 100g.
But a luxury one from Hotel Chocolat is a whopping £7.50 per 100g.

A hollow, milk chocolate egg with two Mars bars included. This is great value when you look at the quantity of chocolate and the price, but alas not the most exciting Easter gift.

This one is another great-value gift for this Easter. It’s a hollow milk-chocolate egg with two Cadbury Creme Eggs. Most children would love this delicious treat.

A hollow egg with two 28g packs of their mini Enchanted Eggs. Same price as the other Galaxy egg in our test, but less chocolate. I wasn’t a fan.

A milk-choc egg accompanied by smooth, melting Lindor chocolate truffles. I find Lindt quite rich and it’s one of the priciest eggs you can buy.
Galaxy Minstrels Chocolate Egg (234g), £3 — £1.28 per 100g

A hollow egg with two packets of Minstrels. Great value, and a bit more grown-up than many of the alternatives on shop shelves. An all-round good egg for the price.
Celebrations Chocolate Egg (220g), £3 — £1.36 per 100g

A hollow milk-chocolate egg with eight Celebration chocolates stashed away inside. A lovely present for anyone who likes a bit of variety in their life.
Morrisons The Best Belgian Dark Chocolate Egg (200g), £5 — £2.50 per 100g

A rich, dark-chocolate egg with creamy milk choc and white choc marbling. Quite dear for 200g but it looks luxury and is delicious. I was impressed.
M&M’s Brownie Chocolate Egg (222g), £3 — £1.35 per 100g

Two M&M’s Brownie packs and a hollow milk-chocolate egg. There is a great range of M&Ms eggs on sale this year and the boxes look fun. Kids will lap these up.
Asda Extra Special Extra Thick Honeycomb, Pretzel and Almond Milk Chocolate Egg (400g), £5 — £1.25 per 100g

Looks special if you want to impress. No plastic pack, frills or fancy extras — just a lovely-looking tasty egg for a fiver.

A milk-chocolate egg and a unicorn design created using white and pink chocolate. A lovely gift. My daughter would be sure to absolutely love this one.
Cadbury Fingers Chocolate Egg (547g), £12 — £2.20 per 100g

This is a whopper. Hollow milk-choc egg has shortcake biscuit bits mixed in, with the taste of a Cadbury Finger. You also get three bags of mini-biscuits. Dear but tasty. A special gift.

Has the wow factor. This extra-thick egg comes with choc characters with different fillings, like City Bunnies filled with hazelnut praline. But so pricey.

Very unusual — a hollow milk-chocolate egg with shortcake biscuit pieces throughout. Middling value. Great for biscuit fans. Tastes amazing.
Cadbury Oreo Chocolate Egg (217g), £3 — £1.38 per 100g

A Cadbury egg with two Oreo eggs, which have a milk creme filling and biscuit pieces inside. I found these quite sweet. Not great value. You are paying for the Oreo name here.
Cadbury Dairy Milk Easter Egg (286g), £5 — £1.75 per 100g

Advertised as a “large egg” and it comes with three delicious bars of Dairy Milk. Sounds like a lot of chocolate but only 286g overall so not the best value. Tastes delicious.
Lidl Deluxe Premium Easter Egg Salted Caramel (200g), £3.99 — £1.99 per 100g

Lidl’s Deluxe eggs come in various flavours including Salted Caramel and Eton Mess, and they are two for £6. Taste is lovely.
