A UFO expert believes we are getting even closer to finding extraterrestrial life thanks to a recent trove of documents released by the Pentagon.

Journalist Nick Pope, who previously ran the British Government’s UFO Project, said he believes “we’re closing in on them.”

His comments came after the newly released Pentagon report claimed people experienced physical injuries from UFO encounters.

Pope, who worked with Britain’s Department of Defence, made the comments this week in an appearance on the NewsNation show “On Balance with Leland Vittert.”

“If they’re out there, we’re closing in on them and it will be the biggest discovery in human history,” he said.

The reports of physical harm after spotting a UFO were detailed in a memo included in the 1,500 pages of documents released by the Defense Intelligence Agency on Tuesday.

According to the memo, humans have been injured from “exposures to anomalous vehicles, especially airborne and when in close proximity.”

The details in the memo go beyond previous information released by the US government, according to Pope.

“We’ve seen multiple videos — U.S. Navy videos — of jets chasing these things tracked on radar and it’s not just UFOs,” Pope said.

“Frankly, they’ve been looking at other things which sound like they come straight out of an “X-Files” script.”

The documents released this week are all related to the Pentagon’s secretive UFO program.

A copy of all “files, reports or video files” related to the Advanced Aviation Threat Identification Program (AATIP) was first requested in 2017 under the Freedom of Information Act.

They were finally made public on Tuesday following a four-year legal fight.

Beyond the physical injury memo, the trove of documents also contains scientific reports and letters to the Pentagon.

Some of the reports contain research into almost science-fiction-like technology and the health impacts of UFO sightings on humans.

‘FEAR AND PANIC’

Pope previously exclusively told The Sun that mankind making contact with or being visited by aliens would be the most “amazing, paradigm-busting moment in human history”.

But it would also be a moment of “fear and panic” that could pit the world’s nations against each other.

Just as we have seen with the way the world reacted to the pandemic, with no unified response and instead of a disparate mix of strategies, first contact could be global chaos, he warned.

“If that is the response to something relatively known, we’ve had pandemics before, what would be the response to something truly new and different?” Pope told The Sun Online.

He acknowledged the view is “pessimistic” – but warned some people wouldn’t able to handle the new reality of man’s place in the cosmos.

And just as we have seen throughout the pandemic and the war in Ukraine, social media would also play a major role with some people perhaps even refusing to believe mankind had made contact.

“Given the current geopolitical situation, I wonder whether it wouldn’t further polarise us,” said Pope.

He went on: “People react as individuals and social media puts a fundamentally different spin on things.

“Many people would be saying ‘fear the evil aliens’, while others would be encouraging us to reach out to new space brothers and sisters.”
