Grand Theft Auto and other popular video games may be the next big thing to enter Mark Zuckerberg’s Metaverse.

At the event, the tech giant plans to announce several new games, gameplay first-looks, and updates coming to its Quest 2 virtual reality (VR) headset.

One game that is expected to get coverage is the PlayStation 2 favorite: Grand Theft Auto San Andreas.

Meta-CEO Mark Zuckerberg initially announced in October that GTA San Andreas would be joining Quest 2 (previously Oculus Quest).

“This new version of, what I think is one of the greatest games ever made, will offer players an entirely new way to experience this iconic open-world in virtual reality,” Zuckerberg’s avatar explained.

The billionaire has not said anything about the development since, but experts predict that gameplay footage may be shown at the upcoming event.

“Six months after its reveal, we feel that it’s time for Meta to give us at least a taste of what we can expect from San Andres VR,” Tech Radar writes.

The publication added that “while a gameplay trailer feels like a near-certainty we aren’t expecting a release date at this time.”

“We might be proven wrong, but given the scope of GTA San Andreas, we anticipate the VR port will need quite a bit of time to get right.”

Other games that will likely get some love at the Showcase include Peaky Blinders: The King’s Ransom, which is the first VR game based on the hit show.

Meta in February said that the game – described as “a dark action-adventure” – would be coming to Quest sometime later this year.

The game’s developers, Maze Theory, have also confirmed a 2022 release so the Showcase seems like an opportune time to discuss updates.

More updates, games, and “a whole lot of surprises” are due to be announced at the event, Meta said in a statement.

If you’re interested in checking out the Showcase for yourself, it begins at 10 a.m. PST on April 20 and can be accessed via Meta’s Facebook, YouTube, and Twitch.
