Soaring inflation is fuelling price rises, as official figures this morning revealed that it has jumped to 5.5%, the highest level since March 1992.

It means household budgets are being squeezed, with one in 10 families on the brink of a financial crisis.

We explain whether your Disney+ subscription is just one of many bills soaring in price.

Is my Disney+ subscription going up?

Some Disney+ customers might have noticed their subscription go up recently.

This will apply to some customers who pay for the service annually – here’s why.

Disney announced in February last year that it was hiking the price of the service, with annual customers seeing their bills go up from £59.99 to £79.90 a year.

Customers who were monthly subscribers started paying for the higher price after August 23, 2021.

But annual subscribers wouldn’t have to pay the higher rate until their next annual bill.

Those whose bills are up for renewal in February and March have been contacted by Disney reminding them about the new rate for this year.

Many took out a subscription around this time of year, as Disney first launched in the UK in March 2020.

That means a raft of people’s bills are now up for renewal – and customers took to social media to complain about the new rate.

One customer said: “Just got this years renewal notice & it’s going up to £79.90! That’s a 33% hike! Jeez.”

Another tweeted that it was “scandalous” while another said: “You must be having a laugh”.

Can I cancel my Disney+ subscription?

If you’re not happy about the price increase, you don’t have to keep your Disney+ subscription when it comes up for renewal.

To cancel Disney+, go to your account settings and click “cancel subscription”.

However, if you’re an annual customer and want to cancel after you’ve renewed your contract, you won’t get your money back because you’ve already paid for the service upfront.

But you can still cancel and use it until the end of your paid-for period – it just means you won’t be automatically charged again when your next yearly billing renewal comes up.
