It’s designed to make profiles look more interesting – and it’s coming soon.

WhatsApp has begun testing an early version of the feature on the beta version of the app.

It was spotted by the WhatsApp sleuths over at WABetaInfo, who regularly uncover new and upcoming features.

Cover Photos are an iconic part of Facebook, giving you a broader image slot than a standard profile picture.

It’s borrowed by other social networks too, including Twitter.

Now it’s finally coming to WhatsApp, although the exact release date remains to be seen.

“WhatsApp is working on a new feature that allows setting a cover photo for your profile,” said WABetaInfo.

The feature is currently in testing for Business accounts only.

But it’s possible that the feature could also roll out to general users too.

Facebook and WhatsApp are both owned by Meta, so it’s no surprise that the pair are sharing features.

Sadly, there’s no confirmation on exactly when this feature will roll out.

And it’s entirely possible that WhatsApp could scrap the change before it ever launches.

If you want to try the feature, check out our guide on how to join the WhatsApp beta below.

How to get WhatsApp beta
